Bandit Leader Jammo Kidnaps 50 in Zamfara Peace Mission

Jammo, a notorious bandit kingpin, kidnapped 50 members of the community in Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, while they were participating in a peace initiative. Hon Bello Dosara, the chairman of the local government, confirmed the incident, stating that the community decided to meet with the bandit leader without obtaining clearance from the local council or state government.

This meeting was against the ongoing reconciliation efforts supported by Governor Dauda Lawal. The community had been provided with weekly security escorts to ensure safe access to local markets.

Jammo released 11 elderly members of the delegation but retained 39 individuals as hostages, demanding a ransom of N24 million for their release. The relationship between the community and the gang has deteriorated, with security outfit Askaraawa reporting the killing of two of Jammo's lieutenants during a recent military operation.

The councilor from Magami Faru Ward, Bello Husseini, indicated that the community's trust in the bandit group has diminished, urging military intervention.
