Bandits Attack Kaura Namoda, Killing 7 Vigilantes

In a midnight attack on Kaura Namoda town in Zamfara State, bandits killed seven members of the Joint Task Force (JTF), a local vigilante group, and abducted 38 residents. The assailants operated for over three hours, entering the town through a riverine route and targeting the Kofar Zurmi and Old Market areas.
Hon. Munnir Haidara, Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, confirmed the deaths and stated that some injured members were receiving treatment in hospitals. He mentioned that the council was still compiling data on the number of abducted residents.
A resident, Bello Lauwali, noted that the bandits bypassed local fortifications by using an alternative route. Another resident, Zayyanu Usman, alleged that the absence of security personnel, who were attending a political campaign in Kaduna, contributed to the attack's success.
However, Haidara refuted this claim, asserting that only political supporters were transported and no security personnel were withdrawn for the campaign.
