DSS Recaptures Fugitive Ansaru Commander Linked to Deadly Attacks

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria has successfully recaptured Abdulazeez Obadaki, a notorious commander of the Ansaru terrorist group. Obadaki is accused of masterminding various deadly attacks, such as the 2012 massacre at a church in Kogi State and violent bank raids in Uromi, Edo State.

He had initially been arrested but escaped during a jailbreak in July 2022. The recent arrest confirms long-held suspicions about his involvement in coordinating such violent activities.

The DSS has intensified nationwide operations to combat terrorism and violent crimes, aiming for faster prosecution of suspects in custody.
