DSS Recaptures Terror Fugitive Obadaki, Mastermind of Kogi Church Mass Shooting

The Department of State Services (DSS) has recaptured Abdulazeez Obadaki, the alleged mastermind of the 2012 mass shooting at a church in Kogi State. Obadaki, a top Ansaru command, coordinated the attack that resulted in the death of 19 worshippers.

He had earlier escaped during a jailbreak in July 2022 but was rearrested after a careful operation. His capture is expected to provide critical insights into Ansaru's operational structure and sleeper cell networks.

The arrest comes amidst ongoing efforts to dismantle extremist cells operating across Nigeria.
