Olurode Predicts Tinubu's 2027 Election Victory

Lai Olurode, a retired Professor of Sociology and former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election by a significant margin. In a statement titled "My Arguments for President Tinubu's Re-election Bid," Olurode outlined factors that he believes will enhance Tinubu's performance compared to the 2023 election.

He noted that the political landscape has changed since 2023, highlighting that Tinubu lacked full party support during that election, with some governors distancing themselves and no federal resources being allocated for his campaign. Olurode praised Tinubu for maintaining the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket despite public opposition and for making tough decisions like removing the petrol subsidy.

He also mentioned improvements in security and infrastructure, citing nearly 6,000 kilometers of roads completed under Tinubu's administration. However, he urged increased healthcare spending and a reversal of education budget cuts.

Olurode addressed the APC's defeat in the Osun governorship election, arguing that it does not reflect voter dissatisfaction with Tinubu.
