Federal High Court Convicts Nnamdi Kanu on Terrorism Charges in Nigeria

The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on terrorism charges. Kanu, a British-Nigerian political activist, was found guilty of inciting violence through broadcasts and separatist agitation.

The court's decision marks a significant legal milestone in the Nigerian government's prosecution of Kanu, whose case dates back nearly a decade. Kanu's arrest in 2015 on treason and felony charges, followed by his subsequent flight to exile, led to his re-arrest in Kenya in 2021.

The prosecution argued that Kanu's broadcasts fueled violence in the southeastern region of Nigeria.
