Breaking: FG Arrests 2 Deadly Al-Qaeda Leaders, Masterminds of Kuje Prison Break, Details Emerge

The Federal Government has announced the arrest of two top leaders of Jama'atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan (ANSARU), an Al-Qaeda affiliate operating in Nigeria. The arrests were made following an operation carried out between May and July 2025 in collaboration with security and intelligence agencies.

The suspects, Mahmud Muhammad Usman and Bara Abbas Mukhtar, were described as the Emir and deputy of Ansaru, respectively. The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, revealed that the men were on Nigeria's list of wanted individuals for several years and internationally.

They were linked to various terror attacks, including kidnappings and armed robberies. The security forces recovered a cache of materials and digital evidence during the operation, which is undergoing forensic analysis.
