Nigerian Government Removes Meta and X Inc from Cyberbullying Charges Against Sowore

The Federal Government of Nigeria has dropped Meta Platform Inc (Facebook) and X Inc (formerly Twitter) from cyberbullying charges against politician and activist Omoyele Sowore. This decision was announced in the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The prosecution counsel moved to amend the charges, removing the two companies' names due to lack of direct connection to the alleged offenses. Sowore's defense counsel confirmed receipt of the amended charges and raised no objections.

The court subsequently struck out the names of Meta and X Inc from the case during the proceedings.
