FG Summons Emergency Meeting to Avert NUPENG-Dangote Strike

The Federal Government has called for an emergency conciliation meeting to prevent a nationwide strike threatened by the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) over a dispute with the Dangote Group. NUPENG plans to commence an indefinite strike accusing Dangote Refinery of anti-union practices.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, has urged NUPENG to reconsider the strike, emphasizing the potential economic losses and hardships it could cause. The government has intervened to mediate the conflict and maintain stability in the petroleum sector, a crucial component of Nigeria's economy.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has also been urged to support the resolution efforts and prevent disruptions in the sector.
