Former Benue Governor Gabriel Suswam Resigns from PDP, Joins APC Amid Party Crises

Former Benue Governor Gabriel Suswam has resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to persistent internal crises within the PDP. In a letter dated February 4, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman in Benue State, Suswam expressed his dissatisfaction with the PDP's failure to resolve long-standing internal conflicts affecting its leadership structure.

He highlighted the lack of cohesion, discipline, and ideology within the party. Additionally, two serving senators, Haruna Manu and Shuaibu Lau, representing Taraba Central and Taraba North respectively, have defected from the PDP to the APC.

These political realignments signal a shift in power dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
