Mass Resignation Hits Benue APC Amid Gubernatorial Aspirants

A significant mass resignation has impacted the Benue chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as multiple gubernatorial aspirants attended a meeting of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on a Sunday. The meeting, held at the residence of former Governor Samuel Ortom in Makurdi, included key figures such as Mathia Buyan, the Executive Director of the Federal Housing Authority, and Barr.

Mike Aondoakaa, a former Attorney General. The APC has been divided into two factions: one loyal to Governor Hyacinth Alia and the other to Senator George Akum.

Recent parallel congresses have exacerbated tensions, leading to the emergence of rival leadership under Austin Agada against Benjamin Omal, aligned with Alia. The dissatisfaction with party leadership has prompted members, including ward chairmen and former APC chairman Alegwu Adadu, to resign.

Daniel Ihomun, the state public secretary for Akum's faction, denied any members had left the APC, asserting that the party remains intact despite the ongoing political turmoil.
