Edo Governor Orders Resignation of Officials for Elections

Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo has issued a directive requiring all public servants and political appointees who plan to contest in the forthcoming elections to resign by March 1, 2026. This announcement was made in a statement signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, the Secretary to the State Government, on February 28, 2026.

The directive emphasizes strict compliance with the amended electoral act of 2026 and warns that failure to resign within the stipulated timeline could lead to disqualification from the electoral process.
