Uba Sani Launches Nigeria's First DDR Framework in Kaduna

On Monday, Governor Uba Sani inaugurated Kaduna State's Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) Peace and Security Committee, marking a pivotal moment in the state's strategy to combat insecurity. This initiative is Nigeria's first formal state-level DDR framework, aimed at disarming and rehabilitating former fighters while rebuilding trust within communities.

Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu, chairman of Tumol, commended the governor's approach, emphasizing the need for dialogue and rehabilitation rather than solely relying on military action. The framework is designed to address the root causes of violence and create pathways for former perpetrators to reintegrate into society.

The initiative has garnered support from various stakeholders, including the National Security Adviser and the National Counter Terror Centre, and is seen as a landmark step towards establishing lasting peace in Kaduna and contributing to national security policy. The launch of the DDR framework is viewed as a visionary leadership move by Governor Uba Sani, who has been in office since the emergence of significant security challenges in the state.
