Kaduna State Launches Security Reintegration Committee

Governor Uba Sani highlighted the precarious security situation in Kaduna, which has been plagued by criminal elements, banditry, and kidnappings.

He emphasized that addressing insecurity requires a balanced approach that combines both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, focusing on the root causes such as poverty, lack of education, and limited economic opportunities. The initiative, noted as a model for peace, aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among community leaders and traditional institutions.

Ambassador Abimbola Wonosik from the National Counter Terror Centre described the inauguration as a milestone towards sustainable peace and security development in Kaduna State and Nigeria. The framework for the DDR committee consists of 17 pillars aimed at addressing the complexities of insecurity, with a call for similar committees to be established in the North West region.
