Jonathan Considers 2027 Presidential Bid, Plans Consultations

Goodluck Jonathan, the former President of Nigeria, hinted at a possible presidential bid for the 2027 elections during a meeting in Abuja on Thursday. He stated that he would engage in wide consultations to make an informed decision regarding his candidacy.

Jonathan received a delegation that urged him to join the race, where he stressed the importance of patriotism, peace, and credible elections for national development. He noted that the stability of the nation relies on the unity of its citizens and encouraged young Nigerians to actively participate in the electoral process, particularly by voting.

Jonathan remarked that elections should be taken seriously and not treated as a game. He also referenced observations from elections in 14 African countries, which showed a strong appreciation for democratic processes and peaceful transitions.

He affirmed that he would consider the best path for Nigeria's future, especially for the younger generation, before making his final decision.
