Campaign Group Urges Jonathan to Run for 2027 Election

The Goodluck Jonathan Support Campaign Group has made a formal call for former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest in the 2027 presidential election, highlighting the need for experienced leadership to stabilize Nigeria during a critical juncture in its history. At a press conference in Abuja, the group's Director General, Jeff Okoi, stated that Jonathan's past performance and leadership qualities remain relevant to addressing Nigeria's current challenges.

The coalition aims to unite Nigerians across political lines to support Jonathan's candidacy, emphasizing the importance of restoring hope and progress in the nation. Okoi expressed concerns about the shrinking democratic space in Nigeria and the need for leadership capable of addressing economic recovery, security, and youth empowerment.

The call follows nationwide consultations and rallies, including one led by youth coalitions urging Jonathan's return to active politics. Jonathan served as President from 2010 to 2015 and has maintained a statesman role since leaving office.
