Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan SAN Emerges as New INEC Chairman - Tinubu Nominates Successor

Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan SAN has emerged as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), succeeding Professor Mahmood Yakubu. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented Amupitan's nomination to the National Council of State, which unanimously endorsed him for his integrity and impeccable character.

Amupitan, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, hails from Kogi State and has a wealth of experience in law and governance. Born on April 25, 1967, he currently serves as a Professor of Law at the University of Jos.

His nomination will now undergo Senate screening for confirmation. Amupitan's appointment is seen as meeting the constitutional requirements for the position.
