TikToker Mirabel Arrested for Alleged False Rape Claim

Mirabel, a popular TikToker known as mirab351, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command on Friday for allegedly fabricating a story about sexual assault. The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed her arrest and stated that she is currently being questioned to verify the authenticity of her initial report.

The investigation began after Mirabel shared a distressing video on February 15, claiming that an unknown individual broke into her home and assaulted her, while also alleging that her family has high-level connections that could shield the perpetrator from legal consequences. This video sparked outrage on Nigerian social media, prompting citizens to call for the immediate arrest of the alleged perpetrator.

Following the viral response, the police initiated an investigation, during which Mirabel was treated as a victim and provided with medical and psychological support. However, the police have warned against misleading the public, emphasizing that anyone providing false information could face legal repercussions.
