The United States has declared that corrupt Nigerian government officials will face visa restrictions following a petition against Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for alleged unlawful property acquisition in Florida. The US Mission in Nigeria emphasized accountability limits, stating that individuals engaged in corruption will be barred from receiving visas.

Activist Omoyele Sowore's petition, supported by lawyer Deji Adeyanju, urged for sanctions including visa bans on Minister Wike. The petition alleged that Wike and his wife, Justice Eberechi, secretly purchased luxury properties in Florida valued at $6 million between 2021 and 2023.
