Rivers APC Nullifies Primaries After Court Ruling

The leadership of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under Chief Emeka Beke, has nullified the primaries conducted by the faction led by Toni Okocha. This decision follows a recent court ruling from the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, which affirmed Beke's legitimacy as the chairman of the Rivers APC.

The court upheld an earlier judgment recognizing Beke as the lawful chairman, declaring the congress organized by Okocha's executive committee invalid. Beke's leadership stated that any actions taken by the rival faction since December 20, 2024, lack legal backing and cannot stand.

The party's spokesman, Darlington Nwauju, emphasized that the political decisions and nominations made by Okocha's faction are without legal effect. This ruling is expected to have significant consequences for the party's political processes in Rivers State, particularly regarding the candidacy for upcoming elections, as the legitimacy of Okocha's faction faces scrutiny.
