Rivers APC Leadership Dismisses Wike's Candidates

The leadership of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed Kingsley Chinda and other candidates associated with Nyesom Wike, following a ruling by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt. The court upheld a previous decision by the Rivers State High Court that nullified the congress that produced Chinda as a candidate.

The Emeka Beke-led faction has been reinstated, with Darlington Nwauju, the spokesperson for the faction, asserting that the nominations made by the Toni Okocha-led faction on December 20, 2024, are illegitimate and have no legal standing. Nwauju urged the National Working Committee of the APC to review the situation to prevent a repeat of past electoral failures, referencing the party's loss in Zamfara due to invalid primaries.

The Beke faction also called for the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission to withdraw certificates issued to local government chairmen and councilors from the Okocha faction, which won the local government elections in August 2025.
