Nigerian Senate Approves Troop Deployment to Benin Republic After Coup Attempt

The Nigerian Senate has approved the deployment of Nigerian military forces to Benin Republic to restore peace and stability after a failed coup attempt. The decision came after a request from Tinubu, following protocols of the ECOWAS region.

Senate President Godswil Akpabio announced the approval during a plenary session. The troops will provide support as requested by Benin President Patric Talon.

The deployment aligns with Nigeria's constitutional provisions and consultation with the Nigerian Defence Council.
