Sharia Council of Nigeria Condemns U.S. Designation of Nigeria for Christian Persecution

The Sharia Council of Nigeria, particularly the Kaduna State chapter, has strongly criticized the U.S. government's classification of Nigeria as a country of concern for Christian persecution. The Council's Secretary, Engin Hassan Abdul Rahman, denounced the decision as biased and unjust, emphasizing that insecurity in Nigeria is driven by a mix of ethnic, political, and economic factors rather than religion.

Abdul Rahman accused the West of selective empathy, highlighting that Muslim communities are often overlooked in instances of violence. The Council urged Nigerians to resist foreign attempts to sow division and emphasized the importance of unity and mutual respect for peace and stability.
