UK Rejects Transfer of Nigerian Politician Convicted of Organ Trafficking

The UK government has refused Nigeria's plea to transfer Ik Ekweremadu, a former Deputy Senate President, back to Nigeria to complete his prison term for organ trafficking. Ekweremadu was convicted in the US for exploiting a young man's kidney.

Nigerian officials, including Yusuf Tuggar and Lateef Fagbemi, visited London to discuss the case. Ekweremadu's wife, Beatrice, and a Nigerian doctor, Obinna Obeta, were also involved.

The Crown Prosecution Service in the UK detailed the case, resulting in Ekweremadu's conviction and sentencing.
