US Military Aircraft Delivers Ammunition to Nigeria

On Thursday and Friday, US military aircraft delivered ammunition to Borno and other northeastern states in Nigeria, marking a significant logistics support operation. Senior defense officials confirmed that the aircraft landed at military bases, including Maiduguri, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria's fight against insurgency following bilateral security discussions between Nigeria and the United States.

The delivery is part of routine military operations and was coordinated by the National Security Advisor. The operation is expected to involve the deployment of additional aircraft and personnel, with reports indicating that 200 American intelligence analysts and trainers will support the Nigerian Armed Forces in counterterrorism operations.

The US has committed to providing technical expertise, particularly in drone operations, without deploying combat troops. Chidi Omej, a Nigerian security analyst, emphasized the importance of this cooperation while cautioning that Nigeria must maintain sovereignty over its territorial operations.
