US Military Aircraft Deliver Ammo to Nigeria Amid Insecurity

On Thursday and Friday, US military aircraft delivered ammunition to a military base in Borno State, Nigeria, amid escalating security concerns in the region. This operation is part of a security support mission agreed upon during recent bilateral engagements between Nigeria and the United States.

A senior officer from the Defense Headquarters confirmed that the ammunition is intended to bolster Nigeria's ongoing counter-insurgency operations against armed groups in the area. The US government will not deploy soldiers but will provide necessary logistics, including ammunition, to support Nigeria's fight against insurgents.

The delivery was described as a routine operational support, with the US military regularly requiring fresh supplies for combat missions. Reports indicated that at least one aircraft landed in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, to offload cargo.

Additionally, US Air Force transport aircraft were noted to have landed at Kaduna International Airport, suggesting a potential training hub for American personnel collaborating with Nigerian forces.
