The UK government has issued official guidance regarding the booking requirements for the Life in the UK Test, which is mandatory for individuals seeking British citizenship or settlement in the United Kingdom. Applicants are required to book their test online at least three days prior to the desired test date, with a booking fee of £50.

There are over 30 test centres available across the country. The test lasts 45 minutes and consists of 24 questions based on the official Guide for New Residents, which covers British traditions and customs.

This guide is accessible in various formats, including book, eBook, and audio, with a practice app available for download. To complete the booking, applicants must provide a valid email address, a debit or credit card, and an accepted form of identification, ensuring that the name matches the ID exactly.

Specific requirements apply for those holding an eVisa and biometric residence permits. Certain groups are exempt from the test, including individuals under 18, those over 65, and individuals with long-term conditions.
