Gowon Praises Buhari's Equal Treatment of Nigerians

During a remembrance ceremony held in Abuja, Yakubu Gowon, the former head of state, commended the late Muhammadu Buhari for his governance of Nigeria, stating that he treated all regions equally and ensured that every state received fair treatment during his administration. Gowon made these remarks on a Monday, marking the first anniversary of Buhari's passing.

He highlighted Buhari's dedication to serving the interests of all Nigerians throughout his eight years in office, asserting that the late president's approach was rooted in fairness and aimed at improving the lives of citizens across the country, regardless of their region. Gowon rejected the notion that Buhari's administration primarily benefited northern Nigeria, affirming that the late president was committed to treating all parts of the country equally.

He expressed gratitude for Buhari's contributions to national service and recalled the peaceful outcome of the 2015 presidential elections, which was facilitated by Goodluck Jonathan's decision to concede defeat.
