Jim-Kamal Enters Lagos APC Governorship Race for 2027

On Saturday, businessman and politician Jim-Kamal formally declared his intent to contest for the Lagos APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections. His announcement took place in Ikeja, with support from party leaders and stakeholders, just days before the APC primary nomination deadline on May 21.

Jim-Kamal introduced a five-point agenda, proposing a ₦50 billion partnership investment for the state. His campaign focuses on transforming education, healthcare, infrastructure, urban restructuring, and human capital development, pledging free automated education and medical services.

He aims to decentralize Lagos's economy to alleviate pressure on the city center, particularly in Badagry. Additionally, he plans to initiate local rice production within two years and provide monthly stipends for unemployed youth and elderly residents.

Jim-Kamal's agenda is aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reforms, emphasizing community service roots. His declaration comes at a politically sensitive time within the Lagos APC, where previous endorsements have favored Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as a potential successor.
