By-election: Kaduna commissioner, PDP clash over alleged vote buying

A by-election in Kaduna State saw clashes between the state commissioner and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over alleged vote-buying. The election, held across 16 constituencies, involved major parties like the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP.

The Kaduna State Police Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), arrested a suspect, Shehu Aliyu Patangi, for planning to use money to induce voters. The PDP dismissed allegations of vote-buying, stating that the money was meant for election logistics and welfare of polling unit agents.

The PDP accused the ruling APC of instigating harassment of opposition members by security operatives. The PDP chairman urged supporters to remain calm and vote based on their conscience, promising to pursue justice through constitutional means.

The commissioner dismissed claims of election rigging by the APC and emphasized the importance of democracy thriving in Kaduna State.
