Bye-election: APGA’s Mimi Azikiwe beats ADC for Onitsha North constituency

Mimi Azikiwe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) emerged victorious in the bye-election for the Onitsha North Constituency 1 seat, defeating the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Justina Azuka. Azuka, the wife of the late Justice Azuka who was abducted and killed by armed men in 2024, ran for the vacant State House Assembly seat.

Azikiwe secured a landslide victory, according to reports from Whistler, garnering a significant number of votes. The election's returning officer, Professor Ebien, declared Azikiwe as the winner, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate coming in third place.
