Bye-Election: Police Arrest Two INEC Officials With N2.5m Cash

Two INEC officials were arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for an alleged electoral offense during the bye-election in Iperu Remo, Ogun State on August 16, 2025. The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of Toryem Mandara Aminat and another driver in possession of N2.5 million cash.

The cash was recovered during a vehicle search, with Mr. Toryem admitting to receiving the money at Kehoy Hotel in Iperu.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered the suspects to be transferred to the State CID Eleweran for further investigation. The police assured the public of monitoring the ongoing election and keeping them informed of the outcome of the investigation.
