By-Election: PDP Cries Foul As Security Operatives Arrest Party Officials, INEC Staff With Cash

The PDP has raised concerns over the arrest of party officials and INEC staff with cash during a by-election. A viral video shows an INEC official and a PDP officer being interrogated by security personnel.

The INEC official allegedly contacted the PDP official and was given a large sum of money. The PDP officer denied involvement in the incident, but the party described the arrests as an attempt to intimidate and disenfranchise its members.

The Director of Media Communications for the party, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, stated that the arrests were politically motivated. The police are investigating the arrests of the INEC staff and are suspected of vote-buying during the ongoing Remo Federal constituency by-election.

The PDP has called for the immediate release of its members and warned against suppressing opposition voices in the election.
