Rivers United Eliminated from CAF Champions League

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peterside Idah expressed his disappointment regarding Rivers United's exit from the CAF Champions League. The team was eliminated following a 2-2 home draw against Cote d’Ivoire’s San Pedro on Sunday, leading to a 3-3 aggregate score, with Rivers United bowing out on the away goals rule.

Idah criticized the players and officials for failing to meet the expectations of their supporters, stating, “We are all very disappointed with Rivers United after all the government have done for the team,” referencing the appointment of Chris Green as the sole administrator. He emphasized that the players and coaches must acknowledge their shortcomings, stating, “We are out of the champions league.” Following this setback, Rivers United will redirect their focus towards the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the President Federation Cup.
