Rivers United, Rangers Draw in CAF Champions League Opener

In their opening preliminary-round fixtures of the CAF Champions League, Nigeria's representatives, Rivers United and Rangers International, both finished with 1-1 draws. Rivers United played against Ivorian side FC San Pedro on Saturday, where they equalized after falling behind in the second half.

Issouf Dosso scored for San Pedro in the 55th minute, but substitute Iyowuna Douglas equalized for Rivers United in the 69th minute, ensuring the tie remains level ahead of the second leg. Coach Finidi George's side will host the return fixture, where a victory would secure their progression.

On Sunday, Rangers International faced AS Sobemap of Benin Republic in Abeokuta, also ending in a 1-1 draw after Rangers surrendered a first-half lead. Both Nigerian teams remain unbeaten but must secure positive results in the return matches to advance in the competition.
