CAF Reschedules WAFCON 2026 to July-August 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday that the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 tournament has been rescheduled to occur from July 25 to August 16, 2026. This decision follows recent reports of a potential postponement, with Morocco originally set to host the tournament from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

South African government officials have indicated their readiness to step in as hosts if Morocco fails to meet its obligations. The CAF cited unforeseen circumstances as the reason for the rescheduling, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the success of this significant women's competition.

The tournament, which is the 14th edition of Africa's flagship women's tournament, will see the Super Falcons of Nigeria, the defending champions with a record of 10 titles, participate. Preparations for the TotalEnergies WAFCON 2026 are already underway, with stakeholders expressing confidence in the tournament's success.
