CAN Declares June 14 as Black Sunday Over Insecurity

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared June 14 as "Black Sunday" to draw attention to the escalating insecurity affecting the nation. Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the chairman of CAN, stated that mere prayers are insufficient to tackle the security situation in the country.

He urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency regarding insecurity and to implement concrete actions to address the threats. Okoh called for the acceleration of state policing and the decentralization of security apparatus to provide quicker solutions to the ongoing crisis.

Additionally, he demanded the unconditional release of kidnapping victims and emphasized the need for justice in the country. This declaration reflects the growing concern among religious leaders regarding the safety and security of citizens in Nigeria.
