CAN Denies Confirmation of Release of Abducted Schoolchildren in Niger State

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State has refuted reports of the release of 100 abducted students from St. Mary's Private Catholic School in Papiri.

The State Chairman, Bishop Bulu Yohanna, stated that no official confirmation has been received. The mass abduction occurred on November 21, 2025, with 315 people taken, including 303 students and 12 teachers.

Nigerian security agencies, including former Director of Defense Headquarters Media Operations Major General John Enenche, have been commended for their efforts. Parents await the safe return of the remaining hostages.

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, visited the school to reassure anxious parents.
