Canada Waives TRP Fees for Specific Foreign Nationals

The Canadian government has identified three specific categories of foreign nationals who are exempt from paying the application fee for a temporary resident permit (TRP), which typically costs $246.25 (N326,602) for Nigerian applicants. The exempt categories include: 1) Victims of human trafficking, who are not required to pay for either an initial TRP or a renewal; 2) Victims of family violence, who also qualify for the fee waiver for both new applications and renewals; and 3) Foreign nationals who were previously under the care of a government or state institution.

The waiver applies to both first-time TRP applications and any subsequent renewals for individuals within these three groups, meaning they do not incur the $246.25 cost at any stage of the TRP process. For foreign nationals not falling into these categories, the standard fee remains applicable.
