Canada Launches Four-Step eTA Application Process for Visitors

The Canadian government has outlined a four-step process for foreigners seeking to enter Canada without a traditional visa via the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system. Applicants must first prepare the necessary materials before filling out a digital form, which cannot be saved, requiring all personal and travel information to be ready beforehand.

After submitting the form, applicants must pay a modest processing fee, which is lower than many traditional visa application costs. The final step involves waiting for a response, typically received via email, with most applications approved within minutes.

However, some applications may take longer if additional documents are requested. The eTA is linked electronically to the applicant's passport and is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
