Canada Military Evacuates Residents Amid Wildfire Crisis

The Canadian government, led by Emergency Minister Eleanor Olszewski, has deployed military aircraft to airlift residents from a community severely impacted by wildfires. The situation has escalated, with 69 new wildfires reported overnight, raising the nationwide total to 955.

Approximately 28,500 square kilometers have burned this season. The smoke from these wildfires has drifted into parts of the United States, prompting air quality alerts and health advisories in several states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Washington D.C.

Climate experts have indicated that rising temperatures are increasing wildfire risks, leaving forests drier and more vulnerable to intense fires, particularly in western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh. Although conditions are expected to improve later in the day, the immediate threat remains significant.
