Nigerian Cancer Society Mourns Alexx Ekubo's Passing

The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) has expressed its condolences following the death of renowned Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, who reportedly passed away at the age of 40 after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer. In a statement signed by the National Director of Public Relations, Bashir Moham, the NCS emphasized the rising burden of cancer among adolescents and young adults in Nigeria.

They called for Nigerian corporate organizations, philanthropists, and government institutions to collaborate in combating cancer through the development of screening programs, research, and supportive policies. The NCS highlighted the need for increased awareness regarding early detection and access to treatment, particularly for young people.

They also urged Nigerian youth to adopt healthier lifestyles to mitigate cancer risks, including avoiding harmful habits such as excessive alcohol consumption and smoking. The Youth Coalition Against Cancer (YOCAC), a youth-led arm of the NCS, is mobilizing young people to champion cancer prevention and awareness initiatives.
