CAPPA Applauds FG’s Health Tax Policy for Sustainable Healthcare Funding

Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) commended the Federal Government for developing a draft policy to allocate revenue from excise taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and sugary beverages towards health financing. The initiative is seen as a crucial opportunity for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to establish sustainable funding for Nigeria's healthcare system.

The Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, revealed that the government is finalizing the draft policy to support health financing. CAPPA emphasized the importance of adequate public health financing in Nigeria, citing a report from the World Health Organization.
