Benjamin Fredrick Set for Brentford Debut in Cup Match

Brentford defender Benjamin Fredrick is poised to make his competitive debut for the club in the Carabao Cup match against Reading on September 15, 2023. The 21-year-old joined Brentford from Simoiben Football Academy on loan in August 2023, and his loan was made permanent in April 2024.

Fredrick was included in Brentford’s senior matchday squad for the first time in January 2024, although he did not play in their FA Cup match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Brentford's manager, Keith Andrews, confirmed that Fredrick is expected to participate in the upcoming match after managing his workload effectively.

Andrews stated, “He hasn’t had a lot of football. We decided not to play him yesterday (Sunday) in the B team game to make sure he was in the right place to be available today.” Fredrick had a loan spell at Belgian side Dender EH during the 2025/26 season but suffered an injury while on international duty with Nigeria in November, which ended his season prematurely and also ruled him out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
