Catholic Bishops Call for Peace and Justice in Nigeria

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), represented by Archbishop Matthew Man Oso Ndagoso, has called on Nigerians to actively pursue peace and justice within the nation. In a message coinciding with the Eid el-Fitr celebrations, Archbishop Ndagoso encouraged citizens to embrace values of forgiveness, solidarity, and mutual respect.

He highlighted the significance of these values in fostering national healing and renewal. The Archbishop praised the commitment to fasting, prayer, and almsgiving, describing them as strong demonstrations of faith and devotion to God.

He noted that this year’s religious calendar is particularly meaningful as both Christians and Muslims observe fasting simultaneously. The Archbishop underscored the need for unity and mutual understanding among Nigerians, especially in light of the serious challenges the country faces, including insecurity, economic hardship, and social divisions.

He urged the leaders of Nigeria to remain committed to serving the common good and to seek divine guidance for peace in the nation.
