CBN Discloses N3.31 Billion Payments to Depositors of Failed Banks in 2025

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disclosed payments made to insured and uninsured depositors of failed banks in the first half of 2025, amounting to N3.31 billion. The payments were detailed in the latest financial stability report, with a total of 6,422 insured depositors and 651 failed financial institutions receiving funds.

The report highlighted payments to depositors of commercial banks, microfinance banks, and primary mortgage banks, with a significant portion going to insured depositors. The CBN clarified the distinction between insured and uninsured deposits, emphasizing the liquidation process.
