Nigeria's FX Inflows Hit $109.86 Billion in 2025

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) reported that Nigeria's foreign exchange inflows rose by 13.8% to a record $109.86 billion in 2025, up from $96.53 billion in 2024. This increase was primarily attributed to stronger autonomous inflows from non-oil exports, capital importation, and over-the-counter (OTC) purchases.
Aggregate outflows increased by 27.83% to $49.05 billion from $38.37 billion in the previous year. Despite the rise in outflows, the economy recorded a net foreign exchange inflow of $60.81 billion, compared to $58.16 billion in 2024.
The report indicated that inflows through autonomous sources accounted for 64.21% of total inflow, rising to $70.54 billion. Outflows through the Bank increased by 1.74% to $32.79 billion, while autonomous channel outflows surged by 164.84% to $16.26 billion.
The value of electronic payment transactions also climbed to N3.46 quadrillion, with e-fraud losses declining by 50.5% to N25.9 billion.
