CDS Oluyede Promotes Local Defence Production at DICON

On a strategic visit to the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Ordnance Factory in Kakuri, Kaduna State, General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria's commitment to enhancing local defence manufacturing capabilities. The visit aimed to assess DICON's manufacturing capabilities, ongoing projects, and future development plans, as stated by Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information.

General Oluyede received briefings from Major General BI Alaya, the Director-General of DICON, regarding current operations and efforts to expand local defence manufacturing to meet the Armed Forces' needs. He inspected key production facilities and DICON's Research and Development facilities, commending the workforce for their dedication to advancing indigenous defence technology.

The CDS emphasized that local defence production is critical for operational readiness, reducing reliance on foreign military hardware, and ensuring sustainable logistics support. He reiterated Defence Headquarters' commitment to transforming DICON into a world-class defence manufacturing institution.
