Champion Awards Celebrate Resilience in Nigerian Media

The Champion Awards, held on March 14, 2025, at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, recognized the resilience of newspapers during economic turbulence. Former Ogun State Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Aremo Olusegun Osoba highlighted the importance of journalism in sustaining national progress.

Over 50 awards were presented, with notable winners including Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, who received the Governor of the Year award, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, honored for Youth Development. Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa, the Chairman/CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, was named Man of the Year.

Other awards included Dr. Adaora Umeoji as Banker of the Year and Access Bank as Bank of the Year.

The event emphasized the critical role of journalism in Nigeria's socio-economic landscape, with a commitment to excellence and integrity in media.
