Chell Critiques Azeez Despite Match-Winning Performance

Ric Chell, the coach of the Super Eagles, expressed dissatisfaction with Femi Azeez's overall contribution despite the Millwall winger scoring both goals in Nigeria's 2-0 victory against Zimbabwe during the Unity Cup held in London on Tuesday. Azeez, who was handed a starting role in the tournament, scored a low strike in the sixth minute and calmly tapped home a layoff from Terem Moffi in the second half, making him the standout performer.

However, Chell was critical of Azeez's failure to execute tactical instructions during the 91 minutes he spent on the pitch. Chell specifically noted that Azeez did not press high as instructed and lost possession too often, stating, "so I'm not happy." When asked if Azeez had done enough to earn a spot in Nigeria's upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June, Chell was vague in his response.

Azeez was one of eight players making their debut against Zimbabwe, with Nigeria advancing to the final of the tournament.
